    Healthy food

Meals and snacks provided: Each day we provide four nutritious and well-balanced meals. We provide morning breakfast at 8:00am, lunch at 11:00pm, and an afternoon snack at 2:00pm and 4:45pm. Milk, juice and /or water is served with all the meals and snacks, and water is offered throughout the day. The meals and snacks for each week constantly vary in order to ensure the children receive a wellbalanced diet. The children are offered the food, but they will not be forced to eat. Our goal is to offer nutritious meals and snacks to the children in our care, as nutrition is a vital part of a growing child's health. Children need to eat well-balanced meals in order to meet his or her daily energy needs, and to help them build a strong body and mind. We know that the good food habits a child develops early in life will help them prevent cavities, iron deficiency anemia, and obesity and more—all common nutritional problems in young children. Breakfast is served from 8:00am to 8:45 am. Healthy lunch from 11:30am to 12:00pm and afternoon snacks are provided according to guidelines set by the USDA State Food Program.

    Art & Crafts

Participation in creative arts and crafts allows children to showcase their talents. Arts and crafts can be a very effective development tool for children. When done in class or with friends, they can become a great way to socialize while still giving kids some privacy. They are also great sources of personal satisfaction, as kids will feel proud of themselves when they are able to finish a project. Bilateral Coordination- Crafts such as coloring, drawing, cutting, all require your child to use both of their hands together. This skill is important in other areas of their lives as they continue to grow, such as writing, tying shoes, typing and so much more! Fine Motor Coordination- In order to draw shapes, cut patterns, and hand writing, your child is required to use their fine motor coordination. These skills similarly translate to other areas of their lives, such as dressing ,eating, and in the academic setting. Self Regulation- Crafts that require drying require waiting! This is a great lesson for you child to demonstrate self control and patience. Also, as always things might not go exactly as we hoped! Crafts are a great way to promote flexibility in your child. There is no right or wrong way in exploring one’s own creativity! Self-esteem booster- Although we want to challenge our kids, it is also important to initially choose arts and crafts that are at your child’s skill level. Completing the crafts successfully will give them a great sense of accomplishment and pride. As your child begin to explore more crafts, you can add in more and more challenges.
